I did not have any particular project in mind.Yet I bought a significant amount anyways. When a project comes along making a trip to the store does not happen often. In my process of organizing and storing them I came up with this design. This design is very easy and simple because all I did was, sew them in each row. I am happy with the result. It is easy and simple but looks elegant. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0RdE8EsHqyS2U5SOleOQyGlBo1cBWXWgDieKvqwVw8RgHAGxx3w1n1HJT4knWtn6KVVH6nQNnx9kez7o5hDp43nNXDgvrcscZO2YjQP11R4o8l8QTSypkPO0XXCNId-fODsP1uGCFOa0/s1600/DSC06866.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300px" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0RdE8EsHqyS2U5SOleOQyGlBo1cBWXWgDieKvqwVw8RgHAGxx3w1n1HJT4knWtn6KVVH6nQNnx9kez7o5hDp43nNXDgvrcscZO2YjQP11R4o8l8QTSypkPO0XXCNId-fODsP1uGCFOa0/s400/DSC06866.JPG" t8="true" width="400px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is how it looks</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2uhRqa0_qdBvmGxZXSCErNbxp7j3hri1SK_P5Kc397vGyEp1VAMW3qHJ7524EhHhFTeb6XMJa_hbrdEWjgBK88P-Bwh3W5pFAdkdNrXNyCqMU3CwfjUZmtro-0TXgtXsHuTzthbdGdMA/s1600/DSC06867.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300px" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2uhRqa0_qdBvmGxZXSCErNbxp7j3hri1SK_P5Kc397vGyEp1VAMW3qHJ7524EhHhFTeb6XMJa_hbrdEWjgBK88P-Bwh3W5pFAdkdNrXNyCqMU3CwfjUZmtro-0TXgtXsHuTzthbdGdMA/s400/DSC06867.JPG" t8="true" width="400px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">These are what I used to make the design</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So all my readers out there if you do not have a sewing machine, there is no need to be afraid because can be done by hand stitch. If hand stitched I believe it will not be very time consuming . </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">If any questions please let me know. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I found this supper cute vase in our local dollar store for $1.50. I loved its round shape instantly. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9HI6pekvzPaS5hgYLOyBevho0yZGeJ7LryhuqFqxlGBfpIgxIIRu2UktOU_syFvzlDwSd0_YLrzQUqICgpod47fyIoHj6RldC2mbELbnYOK9buzi_Aqr1beiLuAl681ApDzMD6DroOiA/s1600/DSC06967.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9HI6pekvzPaS5hgYLOyBevho0yZGeJ7LryhuqFqxlGBfpIgxIIRu2UktOU_syFvzlDwSd0_YLrzQUqICgpod47fyIoHj6RldC2mbELbnYOK9buzi_Aqr1beiLuAl681ApDzMD6DroOiA/s400/DSC06967.JPG" width="300" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">After unwrapping I was going to take off the product tag on its bottom. Then I saw "Made In USA." What a shock..........I used to think everything from dollar store are made in China. I was so happy....... couldn't resist myself from showing it to everyone....I called a few people too...LoL</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimjxMHN-MlV2u_OrxKrQSAI3H-pEVbStLJZxfv8SnweJbm-9Kf4Fpx4RgKmAvR_6JjB8ggbfwSOZAwJdPflJejIWogSHu7lHcBpHii9nkqNMp0JnIbrSF6kfqCXTuhYcUw54TD6YGoJoE/s1600/DSC06963.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="357" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimjxMHN-MlV2u_OrxKrQSAI3H-pEVbStLJZxfv8SnweJbm-9Kf4Fpx4RgKmAvR_6JjB8ggbfwSOZAwJdPflJejIWogSHu7lHcBpHii9nkqNMp0JnIbrSF6kfqCXTuhYcUw54TD6YGoJoE/s400/DSC06963.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">To transform this supper cutttttttte vase I had to think little differently. I had long stemmed sunflower, and few paper roses. It was a tough choice...... I took the sunflower off of its stem and put just the flower inside the vase. </div><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> I fell in love with this Crate & Barrel floor lamp and wanted to buy immediately but its price $349.00 held me back. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is the lamp I have/had. It was bought from Walmart for $30 few years ago. It is old but in good condition. I do not like discarding functional lamps. There is almost always a way to recycle them for a new look. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<div style="text-align: center;"> This is the new look of the lamp same lamp. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I made a final attempt to buy a new lamp at IKEA. I did not find a lamp there for my budget instate I came across this drum shape shade in white for about $7.00. My original lamp is antique color. The white shade did not look good with the antique lamp pole. So I decided to redo the shade with glossy antique color fabric. </div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I made these ruffles according to the circumference of the drum. They are a little more than 3 inch wide. I used a sewing machine to create the ruffles. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<div style="text-align: center;">Finally, it looks like this. I am very happy with the results. </div><div style="text-align: center;">Those who are wondering ....... I only spend $8.00 ( $7.00 shade & $1.00 glue sticks). I had the fabric in hand, but if I had to buy it I would not spend more then $5.00. I used 1 and 1/2 yards of fabric. Originally I was ready to spend $50.00. I am so happy that I did not buy a new one. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Those who are wondering how I made the roses please look watch this video:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSafZ2Se6bM&feature=related">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSafZ2Se6bM&feature=related</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: left;">The way weather has changed in last few years is very dramatic. This week we have seen the deadliest tornadoes in 100 years. Not using the dryer is my little way of going green. Lately I have been using the hangers that come with baby cloths and getting great results. It takes me about10 minutes extra to hang these. Later it saves me the hassle of folding, because they go right in the closet. I just wanted to share this little laundry tip with my readers and my heart goes out to all the people who have been affected by this weeks tornadoes in Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, and Kentucky. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I am back with new ideas and brand new projects. I am looking forward to have fun with you all.....<br />
So, this week I sewn my bed sheet set. It is very colorful...... very odd for my taste. There is always first for everything. This is my first bold take on bedding. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc9vdsRAaDD8Bzdw7-51rJioH480TvJqS9Z0H9BL3M2ipjFK6YVQBZqC0LtONkAY-b8SmNJXRydfrAGYa3dFfhdNm1KfBkgmq9WWdjAhp4ROwWM-d2tqge3iQf4qjFR48gHOylFxDhyphenhyphenMQ/s1600/DSC06842.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-size: large;"><img border="0" height="300" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc9vdsRAaDD8Bzdw7-51rJioH480TvJqS9Z0H9BL3M2ipjFK6YVQBZqC0LtONkAY-b8SmNJXRydfrAGYa3dFfhdNm1KfBkgmq9WWdjAhp4ROwWM-d2tqge3iQf4qjFR48gHOylFxDhyphenhyphenMQ/s400/DSC06842.JPG" width="400" /></span></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">These are the two fabrics I have used. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is how it turned out. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Another View</div><br />
You will be asking why did I choose this bright color and bold print. It is officially spring but it still as cold as February. I just wanted to bring the spring vibe in my bedroom. Surprisingly it did change my room, it looks brand new and lively again. Enough about me........<br />
<br />
So you gies are ready to have fun yet??? <br />
<br />
Big question is how and what did I do? Does it look and work like the store bought ones? The answer is yes. The pieces are: <br />
<br />
1. one mattress cover<br />
<br />
2. four pillow cases<br />
<br />
3. one flat sheet<br />
<br />
For all the pieces I bought 7.5 yards of fabrics. The fabric is 100% cotton about 600 thread count. <br />
<br />
Total cost for fabric is about $35.00.<br />
Instructions on how to make all the pieces can be found on this page bellow:<br />

<br />
Good luck with your new bedding. If you need any help feel free to ask me. <br />

<br />
I use lots of paper towel. This time I kept the inside rolls. First I pressed rolls flat then cut them in small pieces. When cut each piece looked like a leaf. I arranged them in floral shape. Hot glue-gun was used to put them together. Finally, I painted the piece in antique golden. After painting, edge of each leaf still look rough as it can be seen in the picture. I intend on putting it up on the wall as it is. <br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I have always wanted a Sunburst Mirror. I never bought one because copper made ones are pretty expensive and $20.00 ones look chip. This time I decided to do it myself with $10.00. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Accessories I bought are: </div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">a. 2 packs of bamboo sticks for $2.00</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">b. 1 mirror for $1.50</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">c. 1 spray paint for $2.69 </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">d. Decorative embellishments: I already had them </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrilw_c17iwLa0YLthFW7EMSNrwUDSs5gm_hNaxazoDUv55XlcMfNlfRuU3nTGCmO18NpAfX0zqc17aP0n6MnwM1STn301s4-PSfH1jFa7eAfcJ-MmcDBAV_wMNjD-55b7CnkAXK1ocQs/s1600/DSC05886.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" bx="true" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrilw_c17iwLa0YLthFW7EMSNrwUDSs5gm_hNaxazoDUv55XlcMfNlfRuU3nTGCmO18NpAfX0zqc17aP0n6MnwM1STn301s4-PSfH1jFa7eAfcJ-MmcDBAV_wMNjD-55b7CnkAXK1ocQs/s400/DSC05886.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">The picture above shows my preparation that I made a paper template of the mirror, and divided the bamboo sticks in three groups and marked them with marker. Paper template of the mirror was folded to determine the number of sections and their size. Then they were transferred on the back of the mirror using a soft pencil. Measurements had to be very precise. Bamboo sticks were marked in three sizes that the shortest one shown in the pictures had to go deep compared to the longest one. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVhStCW_b4_2OwNutBDqFp0h4_M7BqfPbMPTvyjqJtock384erQlyx-xUlDPFKQfRe3C6pQyw5g8n6UBhKJvFZVvJkaNaeuzGV6-f4m8DurT5HR7nH7STAqIAFc1EPzJuSkE9cLOZ1e-I/s1600/DSC05889.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" bx="true" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVhStCW_b4_2OwNutBDqFp0h4_M7BqfPbMPTvyjqJtock384erQlyx-xUlDPFKQfRe3C6pQyw5g8n6UBhKJvFZVvJkaNaeuzGV6-f4m8DurT5HR7nH7STAqIAFc1EPzJuSkE9cLOZ1e-I/s400/DSC05889.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Then I started to glue bamboo sticks to the mirror using my glue-gun. I glued then each section at a time. Old CD was used to support the sides. I left it over night to dry. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Next morning I painted with spray paint in antique gold color. While spray painting I covered the mirror with foil paper. I did 3 coding of paint on front and back. Between each coating of paint I gave three hours to dry. I decided to paint the back because some areas from side and back are visible from front. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I left it for rest of the day and then glued decorative embellishments using glue-gun. I thought this part would be easy, but it was the most tedious of all. Using hot glue-gun on small parts is not very easy. By the way all the small parts are made of cupper. Also measurements between each had to be exact. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<br />
Using colored paper I covered the box, and secured it using hot glue. Then I added the center paper rose with precise measurement. Then I added more around it. Leafs I made are very simple. Just folded a paper and cut the shape using scissors. However arranging them was a little tough. I think it can be seen in the picture, that not all leafs are in perfect order. Then in the side I used blue ribbon in ziz-zak shape. <br />
<br />
Instructions of how to make the roses can be found in my earlier post.<br />

New look of the sofa needed new cushions. I threw out the old pillows and bought some new. The store bought covers were perfectly fine and looked good too. they were green and had yellow and red work on them. I decided to make my own covers because the fabric I used is a perfect match with my sofa color and it makes the sofa cover stand out. <br />
<br />
I wish I could show you the original cover that the pillows came with, but at that time my camera was not available. <br />
<br />
How to make this slip cover in the picture above? It is very simple. It is just two piece of cut fabric according to the measurement of the pillow. Three sides of the pillow is machine stitched and then the pillow is slipped in. At last the open side is hand stitched. I did prepare a tutorial for my readers but then I came upon this YouTube tutorial. I think this tutorial is very self explanatory. Please click the link bellow to view. <br />

I like taking pictures. My favorite subjects of photography are, my two years old and nature. Just the other day I captured this amazing sunset from my aunts kitchen window. After raining for two days in New York City the clouds started to spread revealing the blue sky. Thought I should share it with you.<br />

For a very love time my living room has been dark. All my furnitures are black, so this is a perfect opportunity for me to add some color to the room. After looking for a few days I found the perfect dry branch in my local park. I cleaned the branch thoroughly. I did not paint it. I like its natural dullness. <br />

I made 50+ spiral roses in four colors and four sizes. I used colored construction paper. For leaves, used green construction paper and using scissors cut them in shapes. <br />
<br />
Using hot glue gun I put together the flowers and leaves in place. <br />
<br />
I avoided putting together too many flowers, because that will prevent earthy patterns of the branch from standing out. <br />
<br />
Supplies Needed:<br />
<br />
1. Tree branch<br />
<br />
2. Construction paper<br />
<br />
3. Hot glue gun<br />
<br />
4. A pair of scissor <br />
<br />

I have a baby so I use lots of bounty tissue rolls.... So I used the inner paper roll to make the two towers. Then I warped it with printed tissue paper. For the platform I used a hard piece of paper and then warped with the same tissue paper. Then I used wood glue to put it together. Well.....Wood glue all I had in hand, but it worked perfectly fine.<br /><br />Cost of this project:<br />1. Printed tissue paper - $1.00<br />2. core of Bounty roll - free<br />3.
